Your Preferences

Everyone is unique. Your preferences and experiences can change how you feel about maintenance therapy. Take a moment to read about how these people made their personal decisions.

I would like a break from treatment. Chemotherapy was tough on me, and I’d like time to recover. I know my cancer may come back sooner if I don’t start maintenance therapy. For me, having time off from treatment is very important.

I’m not sure how I feel about maintenance therapy. I will talk to my doctor to learn more about maintenance therapy and surveillance to make the right choice for me.

I’d like to start maintenance therapy because I want to do whatever I can stop or delay the return or growth of my cancer. I feel that taking maintenance therapy is worth some of the potential side effects. I’d like to talk to my doctor to learn more about my maintenance therapy options.

Next Steps

Now that you’ve learned about your options and thought about what is important to you, it’s time to consult with your doctor. To help speak with your doctor, you can take your print out from this website with your preferences and your questions. It’s important to consider how realistic your expectations are for each option. If you choose maintenance therapy, take an honest look at the logistics of doing each treatment. Think about your options and involve anyone who you feel is important to include, like your family. After weighing your options, you and your doctor can choose the option that is best for you after your ovarian cancer treatment.
